Having fun on the mountain

Funfair Origins

An amusement park on the Tibidabo mountain was first proposed in 1899 by pharmacist Salvador Andreu, who envisioned a funicular, tram line, and amusement rides. Undeniably, It turned out to be a great idea!

To reach the park the ‘Blue Tram’ and funicular railway were built. Furthermore, you can see them on our Discover Gaudi and Barcelona City Tours

Growth and decline

Despite the Spanish Civil War, the park continued to grow during the 40s and 50s until in the 1960s the rise of the small motor car meant people could travel out of the city for their entertainment.

So many levels

Tibidabo is divided into five levels. So, guests enter the park at the top level, then gradually work their way down to the bottom, where a majority of the park’s attractions can be found.

Over the years, Tibidabo has continued to invest in significant attractions.

In 2014, the park inaugurated their current and newest ferris wheel, Giradabo, which runs on their top deck where its predecessor stood. During the 2017 and 2023 seasons, new virtual reality experiences were introduced on the respective Virtual Express and Muntanya Russa coasters.

The next major new attraction, a 50-metre (160 ft) tall drop tower from Funtime, is planned to be built and opened in 2024.
