Museu Blau origins 

The ‘Museu Blau‘ is Barcelona’s natural sciences museum. It is in the Diagonal Mar area of the city. Right next to the Forum. 

The museum’s official title is the Museu de Ciències Naturals de Barcelona (Natural Science Museum of Barcelona). The institution was founded over 140 years ago. Their natural heritage collections are in the fields of mineralogy, petrology, palaeontology, zoology and botany. They have more than three million specimens!

It has one main exhibition. This is called ‘Life Planet’. It looks at the planet’s physical and chemical environments and their relationship with humans. It is divided into two main sections. ‘Biography of the Earth‘ and ‘Earth Today‘. The former looks at the development of life and the interaction with the planet and the latter describes the present situation and the possible future.

They have a partnership to the Botanical Gardens on Montjuic. You can buy a combination ticket to visit both. The Botanical Gardens have an amazing Bonsai collection!

There are always a couple of temporary exhibitions to see as well. The forum area is good for families.
