From the earliest days of the Roman settlement to the hi-tech yachts of the Americas Cup racing in modern Barcelona, sailing has been part of the city’s history.
Indeed one of the worlds oldest shipyards was founded in Barcelona in the mid-13th century. You can still visit parts of it today in the Maritime Museum Barcelona.
The Royal Maritime Club of Barcelona (RCMB), one of the oldest clubs in Spain. It was formed at the end of the 19th century. Since then its members have amassed more than 1,000 medals in national competitions and more than 200 in international competitions. The club slao won the first Olympic medal for Spain in 1932.
Apart from the yacht clubs and marinas, there is also a super-yacht hub. Attracting business from all over the world.
Port Vell, Port Olimpic and El Forum are the three main sailing bases, with the former being the focal point of the Americas Cup teams.

Heavily redeveloped for the 1992 games, Port Olimpic was the focal point for the sailing events at the 25th Olympiad.
